A nurse is a healthcare professional who is responsible for providing care and treatment to patients. Nurses work closely with doctors and other healthcare providers to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, monitor patient health, and provide education and support to patients and their families.

The main responsibilities of nurses in clinical settings include:

  1. Assessing patients' health status and collecting patient medical histories

  2. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by doctors

  3. Monitoring patients' vital signs and observing any changes in their health status

  4. Assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures

  5. Providing patient education on health and wellness, medications, and other treatments

  6. Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records

  7. Communicating with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care

  8. Providing emotional support and comfort to patients and their families

  9. Managing and administering medications

  10. Assisting with surgery

One aspect of nursing that people may not realize is the importance of patient advocacy. Nurses often serve as advocates for their patients, advocating for their rights and ensuring that they receive the best possible care. They also play a key role in health promotion and disease prevention, helping patients maintain healthy lifestyles and prevent future illnesses.
